On May 24, 2022, Vice Minister of Justice A. Akhmetova met with Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe Bjorn Berge in Strasbourg.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Council of Europe were discussed, including Kazakhstan’s accession to a number of European conventions in the field of criminal justice. The Vice Minister also informed about the new political reforms announced by the Head of State in the Address to the People of Kazakhstan “New Kazakhstan: The Path of Renewal and Modernization”, including the creation of the Constitutional Court, strengthening of the Parliament, simplification of the registration procedure of political parties, modernization of the electoral process, etc.

1. Akhmetova expressed readiness for an open and constructive dialogue in the field of human rights. The parties thanked each other for a productive meeting.
