The Hague Conference on Private International Law (hereinafter referred to as the Organization) was founded in 1893.
The purpose of the Organization is to unify the norms of private international law.
On May 16, 2017, the Head of State signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On Ratification of the Hague Conference on Private International Law".
On June 14, 2017, the official ceremony of joining the Organization took place. Thus, Kazakhstan became the 83rd member of the Organization.
Joining the Organization allows us to contribute to the further development of the legal system of Kazakhstan on the basis of generally accepted international standards, to establish cooperation between Kazakhstan and other participants of the Organization, to improve the effectiveness of protecting the rights and interests of citizens.
Kazakhstan participates in 9 of the 41 Conventions of the Organization concerning the abolition of the requirement of legalization of foreign official documents, child protection and cooperation in the field of international adoption, civil aspects of international child abduction, civil proceedings, international access to justice, provision of judicial and extrajudicial documents abroad in civil or commercial cases, obtaining evidence abroad in civil and commercial cases, international procedures for collecting child support and other forms of family maintenance.
Today, in order to ensure effective legal protection of the rights of our citizens and ensure their interests abroad, work is underway to join two Conventions of the Organization, the Convention on Agreements on the Choice of Courts and the Convention on the Conflict of Laws concerning the Forms of Testamentary Dispositions.
At the same time, within the competence of the Department, we send a list of international treaties, according to the annex.
