Consumer price index for Abay region for September 2024

The consumer price index for the region, which characterizes the level of inflation, for September2024 compared to the previous month amounted to 100,9%.

Among food products, in September 2024, compared with August 2024, an increased in prices for eggs of the 1st category – by 6,5%, confectionery products – by 1,3%, oils and fats–by 1.2% (sunflower oil - by 3,7%, butter unsalted - by 0,2%), sausages - by 0,7%, tea - by 0,6%, alcoholic beverages – by 0,4%, milk pasteurized, fish and seafood –by 0,2%, kefir 2,5%, cottage cheese 5-9%, white cabbage - by 0,1%.
Fructs and vegetables became cheaper by 1,9% (carrots - by 18,1%, potatoes - by 5,8%, beets - by 3,1%, pears -by 2,5%, apple - by 0,4%, onions-by 0,3%), cereals - by 0,4% (buckwheat groats – by 0,8%, semolina - by 0,2%, pearl barley – by 0,1%), sugar granulated - by 0,4%, hard cheese - by 0,2%, pasta products - by 0,1%.
Of non-food products increased the price of solid fuel by 6,1%, clothing and footwear – by 3,6%, pharmaceutical products –by 1%, detergents and cleaning products –by 0,2%, personal goods –by 0,1%.
For paid services, increased education -by 5,1%, housing rental–by 2,9%, communication services, hairdressing and personal care services–by 1%, outpatient services - by 0,4%.

Methodological explanations

The consumer price index (CPI), which characterizes the level of inflation, shows the change in prices for goods and services purchased by the population for personal consumption. The set of goods and services includes 508 items. Prices are registered using a selective network of trade and service enterprises of various forms of ownership in the regional center and a certain circle of cities and district centers. The system of weights used for aggregation in terms of their expenses is calculated on the basis of household survey materials for the previous year. Since January 2022, when building the CPI, the share of food products is 40,7%, non–food products – 30,2%, paid services–29,1%.
