The results of the work of the industry of the Abay region for January-August 2024

The result of industrial production in January-August 2024 was an increase in the physical volume of industrial products compared to the same indicator in 2023.

Industrial enterprises and industries produced products (goods, services) worth 1 278.7 billion tenge, which amounted to 4.0% of the national production volume. The index of industrial production was estimated at 102.7% compared to the level of January-August 2023.

In the structure of industrial production of the region, the largest share (69.4%) belongs to the mining industry and quarry development. The manufacturing industry occupies 27.7%, the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air–conditioned air – 2.6%, water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities – 0.4%.

In the mining industry and quarrying in January-August 2024 887.5 billion tenge worth of products were produced, which is 2.4% higher than the level of the corresponding period last year. The volume of extraction of metal ores increased by 1.9%.

In the manufacturing industry in January-August 2024 353.7 billion tons of products were produced, the industrial production index in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2023 was 102.2%. The increase was noted in mechanical engineering by 37.6%, in food production – by 7.0%.

In the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned products (goods, services) 32.6 billion tenge were produced, the industrial production index was 115.7%. The increase was recorded in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity by 24.7%.

In water supply; sanitation; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities, products were produced by 4.9 billion tenge, which is 14.2% lower than the level of the corresponding period last year. The decrease was noted in the collection, processing and disposal of waste; utilization (recovery) of materials by 30.7%, in the collection, processing and distribution of water by 3.1%.

Among the regions the industry of Ayagoz district occupies the largest share in terms of output (50.1% in total), Zharma district – 20.0%. The industry of the Semey city produced 17.1% of the regional output, Zhanasemey district – 8.0%, Borodulikha district – 3.5%.

The industrial production index is a relative indicator that characterizes the change in the volume of industrial production in the compared periods.
