The results of the work of the industry of the Abay region for January-July 2024

The result of industrial production in January-July 2024 was an increase in the physical volume of industrial products compared to the same indicator in 2023.

Industrial enterprises and industries produced products (goods, services) worth 1 090.2 billion tenge, which amounted to 3.9% of the national production volume. The index of industrial production was estimated at 101.7% compared to the level of January-July 2023.

In the structure of industrial production of the region, the largest share (68.9%) belongs to the mining industry and quarry development. The manufacturing industry occupies 28.0%, the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air–conditioned air – 2.7%, water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities – 0.4%.

In the mining industry and quarrying in January-July 2024, 751.1 billion tenge worth of products were produced, which is 0.9% higher than the level of the corresponding period last year. The volume of extraction of metal ores increased by 0.4%.

In the manufacturing industry in January-July 2024 305.2 billion tons of products were produced, the industrial production index in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2023 was 101.8%. The increase was noted in mechanical engineering by 37.3%, in food production - by 9.5%.

In the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned products (goods, services) 29.6 billion tenge were produced, the industrial production index was 114.6%. The increase was recorded in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity by 23.6%.

In water supply; sanitation; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities, products were produced by 4.3 billion tenge, which is 12.1% lower than the level of the corresponding period last year. The decrease was noted in the collection, processing and disposal of waste; utilization (recovery) of materials by 24.9%, in the collection, processing and distribution of water by 3.2%.

Among the regions the industry of Ayagoz district occupies the largest share in terms of output (49.5% in total), Zharma district – 20.1%. The industry of the Semey city produced 17.6% of the regional output, Zhanasemey district – 8.0%, Borodulikha district – 3.5%.

The industrial production index is a relative indicator that characterizes the change in the volume of industrial production in the compared periods.
