The results of the work of the industry of the Abay region for January-June 2024

The result of industrial production in January-June 2024 was an increase in the physical volume of industrial products compared to the same indicator in 2023.

Industrial enterprises and industries produced products (goods, services) worth 895.7 billion tenge, which amounted to 3.8% of the national production volume. The index of industrial production was estimated at 101.9% compared to the level of January-June 2023.

In the structure of industrial production of the region, the largest share (68.9%) belongs to the mining industry and quarry development. The manufacturing industry occupies 28.9%, the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air–conditioned air – 1.9%, water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities – 0.3%.

In the mining industry and quarrying in January-June 2024, 612.1 billion tenge worth of products were produced, which is 2.2% higher than the level of the corresponding period last year. The volume of extraction of metal ores increased by 1.8%.

In the manufacturing industry in January-June 2024 253.4 billion tons of products were produced, the industrial production index in the reporting period compared to the same period in 2023 was 100.5%. The increase was noted in mechanical engineering by 32.1%, in food production - by 6.9%.

In the supply of electricity, gas, steam, hot water and air-conditioned products (goods, services) 26.4 billion tenge were produced, the industrial production index was 114.3%. The increase was recorded in the production, transmission and distribution of electricity by 21.9%.

In water supply; collection, processing and disposal of waste, pollution elimination activities, products were produced by 3.8 billion tenge, which is 7.5% lower than the level of the corresponding period last year. The decrease was noted in the collection, processing and disposal of waste; utilization (recovery) of materials by 16.9%, in the collection, processing and distribution of water by 1.4%.

Among the regions the industry of Ayagoz district occupies the largest share in terms of output (47.9% in total), Zharma district – 21.0%. The industry of the Semey city produced 18.1% of the regional output, Zhanasemey district – 8.1%, Borodulikha district – 3.7%.

The industrial production index is a relative indicator that characterizes the change in the volume of industrial production in the compared periods.
