Kazakhstan is discussing the draft National plan "Active longevity". Online discussions are held on the portal "Open NPA", as well as ministries and akimats make their proposals.
As part of the action Plan, it is planned to open Active longevity Centers in all regions of the country. The center is a leisure facility where older people can learn English, take computer literacy courses, engage in physical therapy, dance, etc. As a result, older people are actively involved in society and their psychoemotional state improves.
So far, such centers operate only in a few cities of the country.
Almaty has become the first region in Kazakhstan, where he launched the Center for active aging. The first center opened in June 2018. It was designed for 75 people, but being in high demand, it was visited by 350 people daily. By the end of 2019, 7 similar institutions were launched in all districts of the city. The programme was developed in accordance with the concept of the Madrid international plan of action on ageing, developed by the world health organization.
Experts on aging call scaling up active longevity Centers across the country a highly necessary and timely measure. According to the Chairman of the NGO "Ardager" in Nur-Sultan Bayan Akhmetzhanova, she launched a public Association to support the elderly 20 years ago.
"Always one of the main tasks of our organization is to maintain a healthy lifestyle of the older generation. I am very happy that active longevity Centers will appear in all regions. After all, according to UN estimates, in 50 years every sixth inhabitant of the planet will be elderly.
Akhmetzhanova said «Therefore, it is extremely important to start working now to ensure a high-quality, diverse and active life for the elderly ».
Representatives of the mayor's office also talk about the relevance of opening centers.
"Older people are the most vulnerable in a state of emergency in the country. Being isolated certainly leads to negative health consequences for older people, especially those who are single. Therefore, support for the elderly should be one of the priority tasks in a state of emergency, " the Governor's office noted.
