Compliance with fire safety in the New Year

Compliance with fire safety in the New Year

Winter holidays are a time of miracles, gifts and positive emotions for children and adults. The cosiness of candles, the colorful shimmering of garlands, the sparkle of sparklers and the bright flashes of fireworks have long become permanent attributes of the New Year. Along with tangerines and a Christmas tree, they create a special mood. In order for the holidays to be remembered only by happy moments, it is worth taking some precautions, paying special attention to fire safety rules.

Installation and decoration of the Christmas tree

Whichever spruce you choose, it is important to remember the following rules:

* install the Christmas tree away from tiles, stoves, fireplaces, heaters and heating elements;

* place the spruce tree so that it does not interfere with movement, leave the exits from the room free;

* purchase a stable stand. This is especially important if there are small children and pets in the apartment;

* do not decorate the tree with real candles and flammable decorations: paper garlands and snowflakes, toys made of cotton wool and cardboard without special impregnation;

* remember that using sparklers, firecrackers and candles near a fir tree can cause a fire;

* do not allow children to play at the Christmas tree without adult supervision and use an open fire (matches, candles, etc.);

* buy factory-made electric garlands with serial connection of light bulbs. All electrical products must have a quality certificate;

  • if problems occur — unpleasant odor or sparking, flashing lights, heating wires - it is necessary to turn off the illumination and take measures to fix it. Do not use the garland until the problems are fixed;
  • if the Christmas tree still caught fire, it is necessary to drop it on the floor and limit the air flow by covering it with a blanket or a thick blanket, then pour water over it.

Pyrotechnics

Fireworks, fireworks, firecrackers, firecrackers and sparklers are probably the most popular products before the winter holidays. These devices often contain gunpowder, chemical additives and a certain amount of metal, which makes them not the most harmless entertainment.

Failure to comply with the rules of operation or expired expiration date of pyrotechnics, as well as flammable materials found nearby can cause a fire or other misfortune.

Low-quality and dangerous goods can be sold in markets or on the street, so it is worth buying pyrotechnic products only in specialized retail outlets. Remember that pyrotechnics are not intended for children — only adults can buy and use it.

Be sure to check the availability of certificates of conformity and fire safety, the integrity of the packaging and the shelf life of the product.

The operating instructions should describe not only the safe rules for the use of the product and its disposal, but also storage conditions, restrictions on use and actions in case of a sudden fire.

It is forbidden to explode fireworks, fountains or fireworks in rooms, crowded places, near gas stations, power lines or gas pipelines. To launch, choose an open area located at a distance from the residential area.

It is necessary to follow the operating instructions clearly and move away to a sufficient distance after ignition. There are several general rules for handling pyrotechnics:

  •

* be careful and do not allow minors to set fire to the projectile themselves or be in close proximity to it during its launch;

* keep fireworks and fireworks out of the reach of children and pets, do not carry pyrotechnic products in your pockets;

  • if the rocket did not launch, it is not necessary to check the reason for this too early. Wait ten minutes, then carefully fill the broken shell with water and dispose of it along with the rest of the garbage. Do not re-ignite the burned-out wick;
  • if someone else's rocket flew into your room, you should not catch it or extinguish it until it burns out completely.

Remember that safety in the New Year directly depends on the correct handling of entertainment pyrotechnics.

Safety at children's matinees

New Year's matinees are another mandatory item in the entertainment program for children on winter holidays.

The head of the institution in which it is organized is responsible for fire safety during the entertainment event. Before the start of the matinee, the room is checked for compliance with the basic requirements:

  1. the location is not higher than the second floor when holding a holiday in a building with combustible floors;
  2. the presence of at least two exits for evacuation, indicated by working light indicators;
  3. installation of the Christmas tree, organization of illumination and decoration of the hall according to fire safety rules;
  4. the absence of candles, firecrackers, fireworks and other pyrotechnics in the room;
  5. serviceable condition and close location of fire extinguishing and communication equipment.

Responsible persons must always be present at the event with the participation of children: educators, teachers or teachers on duty. They are responsible for strict compliance with fire safety measures and evacuate people in case of smoke or fire.

Before the matinee, a list of the children present must be compiled by name, which is checked during the evacuation.

Parents, in turn, should remember that children should not have flammable elements made of cotton wool, cardboard, paper or gauze in their outfits.

The flame retardant for these materials can be prepared independently if 150 g of baking soda and 50 g of starch are dissolved in warm water. In the resulting mixture, the masquerade costume is soaked for 10 minutes, after which the outfit can be dried and used during the matinee.

Following simple recommendations, you will easily ensure the safety of the New Year for yourself and your loved ones.
