School with a century-old history
October 7, 2022, the 100th anniversary of the school, which was founded in 1922, was celebrated in the city of Semey in the secondary school No. 16 named after Toleubai Amanov in the GDK. The event was honored by the presence of veteran teachers, school graduates, students, parents, teachers and specially invited guests. The event was opened with the school anthem performed by students. The anthem was adopted in 2011, and the school logo was specially approved. The words of the school anthem were written by journalist Satzhan Kasymzhanuly, the song was written by musician, playwright, member of the Union of Journalists Zhumabek Kambarov.
In 1922, the school was opened as a Kazakh-Kyrgyz school, its first director was Turganbayev Nurmukhan Omarovich
From 1933-1941 it was a seven–year school, and since 1956 it has become a secondary school.
On January 31, 1994, on the basis of Resolution No. 113 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the school was named after an outstanding scientist, mathematician, academician, graduate of the school Toleubai Idyrisula Amanov.
Veteran teachers such as Menkebanu Sultanova, Honored Teacher of the Kazakh SSR, have worked at this school for many years. For almost a century of history, the last bell at school sounded 85 times. Over the years, they received a Gold medal – 14, a Gold badge of distinction – 15, a Silver medal – 18, an Excellent student – 68 graduates.
The school has clubs "Abai alemine sayahat", "Adal urpak", "Debates".
Teachers of the Kazakh language and literature are the authors of textbooks. Kunafina Gulnara Agzanovna - textbook "Abaytanu" for grades 5-7, 8-9. Nurlybayeva Zhanar Nurakymovna is the author of the textbook "Kazakh literature" for the 11th grade of the socio–humanitarian direction, published by the publishing house "Atamura", Ospanova Laila Tokabaevna - textbooks "Kazakh language" for the 11th grade of the socio-humanitarian direction and "Kazakh language" for the 11th grade of the natural–mathematical direction, published by the publishing house "Arman - PV"
