HAYMAKING WITHOUT FIRES!

HAYMAKING WITHOUT FIRES!

Currently, agricultural work on hay harvesting and forage harvesting is in full swing. Hot, dry weather during the work, a large amount of agricultural machinery, fuels and lubricants create a fire hazard. Careless handling of fire in the field or violation of fire safety requirements for agricultural machinery are the main causes of fires in hayfields and hay storage areas.

To prevent fires during hay harvesting, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the Fire Safety Rules: Before harvesting hay, all persons involved in it must undergo fire safety training under signature in a special journal, which the head of the farm must have. Harvesting units must be equipped with primary fire extinguishing equipment (combines - two fire extinguishers, two bayonet shovels and two brooms, tractors - one fire extinguisher, one bayonet shovel, one broom). All agricultural machinery used for hay harvesting must be equipped with working spark arresters and have adjusted power, ignition and lubrication systems. A spark arrester is a device at the exhaust outlet of a muffler with a fine mesh that prevents sparks from escaping from the muffler. It is prohibited to use any kind of homemade machinery for haymaking that has not been registered in the established manner. It is prohibited to use open fire or perform welding work in the field. The hayloft area must be fenced around the perimeter or surrounded by an earthen rampart. The area for placing stacks must be plowed around the perimeter in a strip at least 4 meters wide and equipped with lightning protection. Haylofts must be provided with a supply of water in case of fire. Hay stacks must be located at a distance of at least 4 meters from the edge of the plowed field, at least 50 meters from buildings or structures, 20 meters from roads and power lines. The distance between stacks should be at least 20 meters, the area of the stack bases should not exceed 150 square meters. Responsibility for ensuring fire safety during haymaking is assigned directly to the heads of business entities and individuals engaged in haymaking.
