A road map will be developed for the development of the villages of Kopa and Aktogay

Today, akim of the region Abay Nurlan Urankhaev made a working trip to the Ayagoz district, where he got acquainted with the activities of the copper mining company KAZ Minerals Aktogay and the social and living conditions for workers. This company specializes in the mining, beneficiation and production of copper ore, and in the period from 2022 to 2027 plans to produce about 170 thousand tons of copper per year.

The liquid extraction and electrolysis plant, part of the complex, has an annual design capacity to produce 25 thousand tons of copper cathode. The company also owns a processing plant, which annually produces 25 thousand tons of processed ore, 383.625 thousand tons of copper concentrate and 3.644 thousand tons of molybdenum concentrate.

As part of this trip, the akim visited the observation deck, maintenance areas of the mine and the Turan rotation camp at the base of the copper mining company. All necessary conditions are provided for the company's employees, including residential blocks, a gym, a canteen and recreation areas.

Also during this trip, a meeting was organized with the local population of the villages of Kopa and Aktogay. Residents raised issues of employment and conducting an independent environmental assessment to assess the degree of environmental pollution from waste from the KAZ Minerals company, as well as regarding drinking water, the condition of the public road between the villages, the poor quality of internal roads and the lack of children's playgrounds.

“Heads of departments, together with representatives of the district akimat, based on proposals from residents, should develop a Road Map for the villages of Kopa and Aktogay, including in it those issues that concern local residents. This will allow you to systematize and solve problems in accordance with the established plan. In addition, I propose to hold a meeting at the level of the regional akimat with the management of KAZ Minerals Aktogay LLP, as well as organize a tripartite dialogue with the participation of the company’s management, the public council of the village of Aktogay and the regional akimat, involving specialists in the field of water use to conduct information work,” noted Nurlan Urankhaev.

The head of the region took all issues raised at the meeting with the public of Kopa and Aktogay under his personal control.
