Step-by-step algorithm for legalizing foreign cars

From January 23, Kazakhstan will start legalizing foreign cars imported into the country before September 1, 2022. The application will be considered by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. If approved, the system will offer you to book a visit to the Special PSC for vehicle inspection. To do this, on the status page, click "Book a queue", select the Special Center where you will go to inspect the car, indicate the date and time. Queuing of visitors will not be served without booking. By car, which is subject to legalization, you must arrive at the inspection point at the Special Public Service Center 20 minutes before the appointed time. At the entrance, you can get a ticket at the inspection point itself or through the PSC mobile application. After successfully passing the reconciliation, you can go to the SpetsTSON building to register the car. The operator will ask you to hand over the original document confirming the ownership of the car, a foreign technical passport. After that, it is necessary to pay a fee for initial registration in the amount of 200,000 tenge, a state duty for a technical passport - 4,313 tenge, for a state number - 9,660 tenge. Payment can be made on the spot via QR. After payment, on the same day you will be issued a technical passport and license plates of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Note that the legalization of foreign cars is a one-time action. The approved legalization rules will be valid until July 1, 2023 and apply to cars, small and medium buses (with a gross weight of up to 5 tons) and small trucks (with a gross weight of up to 3.5 tons), including those with right-hand drive governing bodies. There will be no requirements for age and environmental class for foreign cars subject to initial registration.
