When a fire hazard period occurs, most fires occur in the private residential sector. Their reasons are almost always the same - faulty electrical wiring, smoking and electrical appliances left unattended, as well as careless handling of fire. - If there is a fire, the first thing to do is to call the fire service, and try to immediately get people out of the premises. - If a household appliance catches fire, try to de-energize it from electric current. If other electrical appliances or wiring catch fire, turn off the knife switch, circuit breaker or electrical plugs and then cover it with any dense cloth to stop air from entering. Seal the door with wet rags so that smoke does not penetrate into the rest of the rooms. - If you see that it is not possible to eliminate the fire on your own, leave immediately. Take the documents, money and leave the apartment. In a heavily smoky space, you need to move crawling or crouching, while covering the respiratory organs with a damp cloth to avoid poisoning. - When evacuating from a burning apartment, check that all windows and vents are closed, otherwise fresh air will add strength to the fire. The safest places in a burning apartment are on the balcony or near the window. Here firefighters will find you faster! Open the door to the balcony carefully, as the flames from a large influx of fresh air can intensify. Remember to close the balcony door tightly behind you. If you witness a fire, do not be indifferent, immediately report it by calling the emergency rescue numbers: "101" - fire service; "112" - a single number of the rescue service.
