When leaving the city in winter (by car, skiers, tourists, fishermen, hunters)

Everything needs to be carefully thought out, planned and organized down to the details.

  1. Watch the media closely for a storm warning. If there is, then refrain from traveling out of town. Winter weather conditions can change quickly.
  1. The place, time and duration of rest, about the route of movement should be known, if possible, by a larger number of people (at home, at work).
  1. Equipment must be carefully selected:

- Clothing for hiking should be warm, light and comfortable .. For hiking, suits made of thin canvas or denim, windbreakers are best suited. Lingerie in frosty weather is preferable to semi-woolen or thick cotton

- The same goes for shoes. Particular attention is paid to protecting the shoes from moisture. All kinds of insoles are used to keep it warm. But in any case, the leg should feel free in the shoe. With excessive squeezing of the skin, an excess of warm things is even more dangerous than their lack. It is very important to insulate the head, since it accounts for a significant part of the heat transfer. Woolen socks in hiking conditions are always preferable to cotton socks, because wool retains its heat-shielding properties even when wet. In order to warm the legs, it is advisable to wear woolen socks on the bare leg, and cotton socks on top of them.

...

  1. If you go out of town by car, check its serviceability and completeness; it must contain towing equipment, a shovel, a lantern, a supply of fuel, a box of sand, as well as warm clothes and shoes, food.
