An open regional judo tournament was held dedicated to the memory of honorary athlete Manarbek Tautanov.

On January 29-31, 2025, in the village of Karaul of the district center, an open regional judo tournament among juniors born in 2011-2012 was held, dedicated to the memory of honorary athlete of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan, honorary citizen of the Abai district Manarbek Tautanov.

Akim of the district Meirzhan Serikbosynovich spoke at the opening of the tournament and wished the participants good luck. Also, sports veteran, honorary sports worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honorary Citizen of the Abai region Beisen Toleubayev and Manarbek Tautanov's wife Gulmira Tautanova spoke at the opening ceremony of the competition and expressed warm words of gratitude to the young athletes.

About 200 young wrestlers born in 2011-2012 from Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Aksuatsky, Ayagozsky, Borodulikhinsky, Kokpektinsky, Kaynarsky and Abai districts took part in the tournament.
