Wages in II quarter of 2022*
The average value of nominal wages in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the II quarter of 2022 amounted to 312 011 tenge. The growth by the corresponding quarter of 2021 was 24.0%, in real terms – 8.9%. The median value of wages (the central level of the salary range) was estimated in the II quarter of 2022, amounted to 196 728 tenge.

Wage growth is observed in all major types of economic activity. Compared to the corresponding quarter of 2021 the largest growth was recorded – in construction – by 35.5%, in transport and storage – by 34.8%, in mining and quarrying – by 28.3%. A slight increase was noted in the sectors of healthcare and social services of the population – by 12.1% and in the provision of other types of services – by 3.9%.
Regionally, the largest growth was recorded in the Kyzylorda region – by 31.3%, the smallest growth was recorded in Nur-Sultan city – by 14.2%, at the same time, in real (taking into account price growth), decrease of 0.1 percent point was recorded.
«Data on average monthly wages are calculated on the basis of quarterly statistical reports of enterprises. The average value is based on additional payments, allowances, premiums, and taxes and other deductions (income tax, mandatory pension contributions). Median salary is the amount of wages that is in the center of the distribution of the number of employees by the size of the accrued salary and divides it into two equal parts – with wages below and above the median» – Natalia Belonosova, director of the Department of labor and standard of living statistics of the Bureau of National statistics, explains.
