Kazakhstan and Italy Sign Readmission Agreement During Italian Prime Minister's Visit

An intergovernmental Agreement on Readmission between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Italian Republic was signed in Astana.

The document was concluded within the framework of the official visit of the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, and her meeting with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Agreement is aimed at simplifying and accelerating the procedure for the return of citizens of both countries to their homeland in case of their violation of the conditions of stay. In particular, it provides for:

• Waiver of the application of penalties.
• Assistance in processing the necessary documents.
• Interaction between the authorized bodies of the two countries.

The Ministries of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and Italy are responsible for the implementation of the document. The agreement on the preparation of this Agreement was reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Italy in January 2024.

Kazakhstan already has similar agreements in force with 21 states. The new document will become an additional instrument for protecting the rights of citizens and a confirmation of the high level of trust between the two countries.
