June 28 – Media Workers' Day

Today, on June 28, Kazakhstan celebrates the Day of Media Workers.

This holiday has been celebrated annually since 2011. This date was chosen on June 28, 1991, in connection with the adoption of the first national law "On the Press and other Mass Media".

Dear journalists, and media staff, congratulations on your professional holiday! The mass media is the link between the government and the people and it is called the Fourth Power, recognizing the influence of the press in society. Awareness of this power should be combined with modesty and a sense of duty to the reader. At all times, they have achieved recognition due to a high level of accuracy and impartiality, as well as due to their compliance with the rules of fair play.

«A newspaper is the eyes, ears, and language of the people», wrote Akhmet Baitursynov, a Kazakh public figure.

«If the people have a strong press, it is a strong people», noted Myrzakyp Dulatov, a Kazakh poet.
