Kazakhstan can offer the EU more than 175 types of processed goods worth over $2.3 billion

On May 22, 2023, the 6th meeting of the Kazakhstan-EU Cooperation Committee in Trade Configuration chaired by Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the RK Kairat Torebayev and the European Commission Head of Unit for Southern neighbours, Middle East, Türkiye, Russia, Belarus and Central Asiafor Nele Eichhorn was held in Astana.

At the meeting the parties discussed possibility of expanding the range of export goods of Kazakh food products to the EU market, the development of the agricultural organic sector in Kazakhstan.

At the same time Kazakhstan can offer the EU more than 175 types of non-primary goods worth over $2.3 billion in various industries, such as engineering, iron and steel production, processed food and agriculture. In particular, being a major grain producer, our country could become a strategic partner of the EU in the implementation of the global food agenda.

The importance of cooperation in the field of labeling and technical regulation was noted as well.

The meeting also outlined further steps in the implementation of the Roadmap for the Kazakhstan – EU strategic Partnership on sustainable raw materials, batteries and renewable hydrogen value chains.

The Roadmap was signed within the framework of the 2nd EU - Central Asia Economic Forum held in Almaty on May 19, 2023.
