Kazakhstan is actively implementing Halal standards for the export of products

At a meeting with the public of Zhetysu region, the Head of State noted that Halal standards should also be applied in the domestic agro-industrial industry, which apply not only to meat and dairy products, but also to cereals, vegetables, fruits and other food products. These steps will allow our country to gain a foothold and then strengthen its position in the international market.

To date, there are 13 national Halal standards. This year, 16 standards are being developed. Of these, 5 national standards are planned to be adopted this year and 11 interstate standards.

These national and interstate Halal standards are being developed in such areas as general provisions for Halal products, requirements for accreditation of certification bodies, laboratories, Halal management system and food chain, and more.

The developers of these standards are the Technical Committee 101 "Food safety of food, Halal products and services" together with Kazstandart KTRM MTI RK.

Standards at the stage of development and after their approval will be publicly available on the information resources of Kazstandart, thereby all interested parties from consumers to manufacturers and service providers have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with them.

Recall that in May 2022, KazStandart KTRM MTI RK was accredited by the UAE International Accreditation Center (EIAC) for certification of Halal products. This will make it possible to realize the export potential of Kazakhstan and supply safe and high-quality products to the market of the Persian Gulf countries.

In addition, in October 2022, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the General Organization for Standardization of Qatar signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of standardization, conformity assessment and metrology based on international principles and norms. This memorandum will strengthen cooperation between the countries in these areas, will allow Kazakhstan to realize its export potential and supply safe and high-quality products to the Qatar market.
