
At the next meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy and Participation in International Economic Organizations (IEC), held on August 31, 2022, chaired by Acting Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin, decisions were made to lift restrictions on the export of grain and flour and to establish quotas for the export of large and small cattle.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, announced at the meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, a good grain harvest is expected in Kazakhstan. This year it is planned to harvest more than 13 million tons of wheat, which exceeds last year's harvest by 12%. About 6.5 million tons are required for domestic consumption. Following a comprehensive discussion of the feasibility of lifting quantitative restrictions (quotas) on the export of wheat and meslin, wheat flour with representatives of interested government agencies, NCE RK "Atameken", Grain Union, Grain Processors Union, the head of the national agricultural movement Shopan-Ata, as well as on the basis of forecast data of the Ministry of Agriculture, it was decided to lift restrictions on the export of grain and flour from September 10, 2022. Recall that this restriction was introduced by order of the Ministry of Agriculture from July 8 to September 30, 2022.
The Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to monitor grain exports and work out the issue of further regulation of grain and flour exports.
Also during the meeting, the establishment of quantitative restrictions (quotas) for the export of cattle and small cattle, with the exception of breeding stock, was approved.
According to statistics, as of August 1, 2022, the number of cattle is 9.4 million heads, including 4.5 million cows, the offspring amounted to 3.2 million heads.
It was decided to establish a quota for the export of bulls in the amount of 60 thousand heads, or 9% of the total livestock, as well as 120 thousand heads of sheep, or 10% of the total livestock.
From January 21 to July 21, 2022, there was a ban on the export of cattle and small cattle.
