Today, on February 25 this year, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev met with the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Kazakhstan Ms. Shubdarshini Tripathi to discuss the agenda of the 14th meeting of the Kazakh-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

It is noted that among the countries of Central Asia, Kazakhstan is the main trading partner and exporter to India (in 2020, the share of Kazakhstan in India's mutual trade with Central Asia is 80.7%, in exports of goods to India - 98.9%).
Thus, in 2021, mutual trade between Kazakhstan and India amounted
to $2.0 billion.

According to Kairat Torebayev, Kazakhstan is ready to increase the turnover of 80 export-potential goods, worth $ 609.5 million, which can be supplied to the Indian market from Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan has the opportunity to increase the supply of metallurgical products (in the amount of $415.7 million), chemical (in the amount of $76.9 million), food (in the amount of $63.5 million), construction goods (in the amount of $23.6 million), engineering (in the amount of $22.7 million), pharmaceutical (in the amount of $7 million).

During the negotiations, the parties stressed the importance of the upcoming 14th meeting of the Kazakh-Indian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical, Industrial and Cultural Cooperation (hereinafter - the IPC).

The main issues planned for discussion within the framework of the upcoming IPC are in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy, industry, trade and investment, and transport.

In addition, within the framework of the upcoming IPC, the conclusion of 3 signature documents on technical regulation issues is being worked out.

The parties noted that the main constraint on bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and India is transport communication.

The Kazakh side, in turn, offered to invest in joint projects on the territory of the International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation "Khorgos" and cross-border trade and economic hubs.
