This is the second trade and economic mission of Kazakhstan to Iran in the last 5 months. Kazakhstan's business was represented by 15 manufacturing companies operating in the food industry, construction industry, chemical industry, IT industry, metal rolling, etc. In particular, producers of meat and flour products, producers of eggs, pasta, ice cream, vegetable oil, cereals participated in negotiations with the Iranian business. As well as chemical products, steel wire and ropes, metal barrels, manufacturers of telecommunications equipment and modems.
The organizer of the trade and economic mission of the Kazakh business to Iran is the unified operator of export support and development of JSC "QazTrade". Opening the trade and economic mission, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Bakhyt Sultanov noted that Iran is one of the important trade partners of Kazakhstan. "We attach great importance to the further development and deepening of Kazakh-Iranian bilateral trade and economic relations, especially the development of trade between our countries," B. Sultanov said.
He noted the significant potential for increasing mutual trade. At the same time, Kazakh companies are ready to increase exports to Iran of processed goods from a number of industries, including the metallurgical industry, food, machine-building, pharmaceuticals, building materials in the amount of $162.3 million. According to Sultanov, with the commissioning of the Kazakhstan– Turkmenistan–Iran railway, the volume of exports of products has already increased 5 times, while the possibility of transshipment is about 10 million tons of cargo. "Today, through this route, Iran has the opportunity to enter the Russian and Chinese markets, in turn, our country - to all the states of the Persian Gulf.
The implementation of a single favorable tariff policy will increase cargo traffic on the Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran route and will have a positive impact on the development of the transit and transport sector of our countries as a whole. Therefore, today our task is to load this route," B. Sultanov addressed the participants of the trade and economic mission. Representatives of Kazakh business met with Iranian industry associations (Association of Manufacturers of Electronic Equipment, Industrial and Construction Materials, Association of Metallurgical Industry, Association of Meat and Meat Products Producers, Association of Food Products).
The entrepreneurs also got acquainted with the work of one of the largest Iranian retailers Hyper Star (the Iranian subsidiary of the French multinational retailer Carrefour). Following the results of B2B negotiations, Kazakh and Iranian companies concluded several agreements worth $14 million. So, in particular, contracts were signed for the supply of meat, flour, ice cream, vegetable oil to Iran. A memorandum was also signed between JSC "QazTrade" and the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran on mutual intention to increase trade turnover by $100 million.
