Kazakhstan business expands presence in Tajikistan

On the eve of the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan K.Tokayev to Dushanbe, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a trade and economic mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Tajikistan.

16 Kazakhstan companies working in the field of engineering, food industry, telecommunications, water disposal, production of medical devices, etc. presented their products to the Tajikistan market.

The Kazakhstan-Tajikistan business forum has started today in Dushanbe. Representatives of the business community of Tajikistan, the leadership of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan, the State Committee for Investment and State Property Management of Tajikistan, Tajinvest and others were participated in Kazakhstan-Tajikistan business forum.

The General Director of QazTrade Azamat Askaruly led the Kazakhstan delegation.

А. Askaruly noted that the economic cooperation of the two countries has a positive trend, despite the decline in international trade due to the coronacrisis: “The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan for 2020 amounted to $ 791.4 million, which is 3.7% higher than the previous year ($ 762, 9 million). Export from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan in 2020 increased by 6.1% and amounted to $ 693.0 million. "

"Tajikistan is a country with a dynamically developing economy that has great prospects for the development of cooperation with Kazakhstan in the petrochemical industry, food industry, engineering, chemical and pharmaceutical industries," said A. Askaruly.

According to QazTrade Tajikistan market analysis, companies represented in the trade and economic mission can increase the volume of supplies to Tajikistan in the amount of about $ 90-100 million (as part of the substitution of imports to Tajikistan from third countries).

 Within the framework of the business forum, numerous B2B meetings were held between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan entrepreneurs.

The negotiations resulted in the signing of 5 documents: 3 contracts for the supply of Kazakhstani products and 2 memorandums of cooperation, for a total amount of up to $ 100 million.

Thus, the QazTrade company, as a key operator of the Republic of Kazakhstan in support and promotion of exports, concluded a memorandum of cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan. Another memorandum - between "EltexAlatau" LLP and Tajik company "Tamos" - the parties agreed on the provision of telecommunications services to Tajikistan. Also, Spirit Kazakhstan company contracted provision of products of polymer and water caps, Alageum Group LLP company agreed to provide power transformers and Lokomotiv Krastyru Zauyty JSC agreed to provide diesel locomotives.

Within the framework of the mission, a number of bilateral meetings of the QazTrade company management with representatives of government agencies and business of the Republic of Tajikistan are expected.

The trade and economic mission in the Republic of Tajikistan will last until May 21.

Mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Tajikistan has significantly accelerated in recent years. Trade turnover between the countries in January-March 2021 amounted to $ 240.3 million, which is 14.9% higher than in the same period of the previous year ($ 209.1 million) and 29.5% more than in the same period of 2019 ($ 185.6 million).

The potential for increased cooperation remains very high.
