Press release on the signing of the Memorandum between MIT and SCE (Singapore)

On November 27, 2020, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MTI) and the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of cooperation and development of digital trade and e-commerce in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Under this memorandum the parties agreed to develop joint initiatives and projects through the exchange of best practices in the field of digital trade.

The development of digital trade in the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the priority tasks set by the Government, and the expansion of cooperation on these issues with world leaders in this field is its integral part. According to this Memorandum, the SCE, within its competence, will assist the MTI in five main areas of development, including the practical implementation of the roadmap for the enforcement of digital technologies in the country and training specialists in relation to the digital transformation.

The SCE, established on the basis of the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, manages projects of cooperation of the public sector of Singapore with foreign partners and provides advisory support for the economic development of a number of countries.

Today, Kazakhstan and Singapore have practical experience of collaboration on key economic issues and capacity-building. The vice-minister of trade Mrs. Assel Zhanassova mentioned the following: "The role of international cooperation and partnership in the development of e-commerce has always been and remains significant. We are open to new initiatives in this area and look forward to a productive cooperation with one of our most important partners”.
