75 Kazakhstani Military Personnel to Learn How to Develop Digital Solutions Using AI

Maqsut Narikbayev University (MNU) has launched a training programme for personnel of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in their day-to-day duties. A total of 75 military personnel will take part in the course, including conscripts serving in the Air Defence Forces and the Ground Forces.

During practical training sessions, participants will learn the fundamentals of vibe coding — the development of software applications and digital tools through natural-language prompts to AI systems. They will acquire practical skills in analysing and visualising large datasets, developing digital platforms, and automating workflows.

“Our goal is to equip military personnel with practical skills they can apply in their day-to-day duties. We teach them to develop their own digital solutions for specific tasks, ranging from analysing data at the national and regional levels to automating workflows. The key is to demonstrate how these technologies work and lower the barrier to entry, enabling participants to further develop their ideas independently,” said Sergey Pen, Vice Chairman of the MNU Management Board for Science, Innovation and Artificial Intelligence.

Particular attention is being paid to information security and the protection of military data. Work is currently underway to develop a dedicated AI system for military personnel. The system is expected to ensure that data entered into it remain within the system and are not transmitted externally, allowing AI technologies to be used in compliance with military information protection requirements.

“The vibe coding training will be very useful in my day-to-day duties. It will enable me to complete tasks much faster and more efficiently. What I liked most is that AI makes it possible to integrate several applications into a single solution and work with them simultaneously. The system generates the required code automatically, while the user simply needs to formulate the task clearly and precisely,” said Major Gani Kurganbayev, an officer of the Department of Military Education and Science.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be awarded certificates.

The AI-X programme is being implemented at MNU as part of a three-year state experiment and combines training in artificial intelligence technologies with sector-specific professional development. Practical sessions make use of the university’s specialised AI Agentic Lab and computing resources.
