A solemn listing ceremony of the debut issue of sovereign panda bonds of the Republic of Kazakhstan took place on the AIX Exchange today.
With the debut issue of panda bonds in the amount of 3.4 billion RMB with a yield of 1.9%, Kazakhstan set a record by placing bonds on the Chinese stock market at the lowest rate among BBB-rated and AA-rated countries.
It should be noted that it is important for Kazakhstan to use the Bond Connect infrastructure, which provides international investors with access to China's domestic interbank bond market (China Interbank Bond Market, CIBM). Connecting to this infrastructure opens up new opportunities for attracting Chinese capital, expands the access of Kazakhstani investors to one of the largest debt markets in the world and contributes to the further integration of the financial markets of Kazakhstan and China.
The successful placement of panda bonds by the Republic of Kazakhstan has become a solid foundation for further cooperation and will open up new opportunities for interaction and strengthening long-term partnership between Kazakhstan and China.
The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Ministry of Finance, represented by Vice Minister Kenbeil D.M., the management of the AIX Exchange, representatives of the leading underwriters and partners of the transaction, including China International Capital Corporation, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank Astana, «TenizCapital Investment Banking» JSC, as well as the Chinese credit rating agency Lianhe.
The ceremony symbolized the launch of trading on the Astana International Exchange platform.
