Jerusalem, May 1, 2021 - The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Israel and representatives of the Orthodox Church of Kazakhstan took part in the ceremony of the descent of the Holy Fire in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The clergy of the Greek Orthodox Church delivered the holy fire to the Jaffa Gate of the old city of Jerusalem, where it was received by foreign diplomats and authorized persons.
The Holy Fire is planned to be delivered from Jerusalem to three Kazakh cities – Nur-Sultan, Almaty and Aktau, on the night of Sunday, May 2.
This year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the conflagration occurred with a limited number of clergy and in the absence of pilgrims, who traditionally come from many countries.
For reference: The Holy Fire descended on Holy Saturday on the eve of Easter in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The Holy Fire descends in the Kuvukliya-a marble chapel above the cave of the Holy Sepulchre, where, according to legend, Jesus Christ was buried.
