Kazakhstanі-Philippine Relations: Cooperation in Spite of Pandemic

Jakarta, April 7, 2021 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia and non-resident Ambassador to the Philippines Daniyar Sarekenov met with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Teodoro Locsin.

At the meeting, the Ambassador familiarized his interlocutor with the current socio-political and economic situation in Kazakhstan, informed him about the favourable investment climate, transit, transport and export potential of the country.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation, and also expressed interest in strengthening interaction within the framework of international organizations.

Kazakhstani-Philippine relations are developing in the spirit of the 2003 Joint Declaration on Friendship and Cooperation. Despite the global economic downturn, in 2020 the trade turnover between the two countries reached 18.4 million US dollars, an increase of 25% over 2019.
