Kazakhstan and Kenya Step Up the Implementation of Joint Economic Projects

Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Kenya Barlybay Sadykov held a meeting with Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Lee Kinyanjui.

The representatives of Kazakhstan's quasi-public and financial sectors, as well as officials from relevant Kenyan government agencies took part in the meeting. The parties discussed practical steps to implement the agreements reached following the State Visit of the President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto, to Kazakhstan in May this year.

The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the mining, banking, transport and logistics, tourism, investment, and agricultural sectors. Particular attention was given to opportunities for establishing mutually beneficial joint ventures and facilitating the entry of Kazakhstani products into the Kenyan market.

In addition, the Kazakhstani delegation visited the Port of Mombasa, the Nairobi Inland Container Terminal—Kenya's principal dry port—as well as tea and coffee plantations as part of a familiarization programme. The parties also discussed the implementation of agreements on establishing a tea and coffee hub and the use of Kenya's port infrastructure by the Kazakh side.

Kenyan officials highly commended Kazakhstan's dynamic economic development and reaffirmed Nairobi's strong interest in further expanding bilateral cooperation with Astana.

Following the meetings, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation across all priority areas, including the preparation of feasibility studies for projects of mutual interest, the development of roadmaps for implementing agreements reached at the highest level, and the organization of reciprocal expert-level visits.
