Kazakhstan and France Discuss the Development of Interparliamentary Cooperation

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to France Gulsara Arystankulova held a meeting with the newly appointed Chair of the France-Kazakhstan Friendship Group of the French National Assembly, Danièle Carteron.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of the strengthened strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and France, as well as issues related to the expansion of interparliamentary ties. They particularly noted the strong momentum of political dialogue between the two countries, including reciprocal visits by the Presidents of Kazakhstan and France in recent years.

The Ambassador briefed her interlocutor on the key aspects of the constitutional reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan as part of the country’s efforts to further democratize its political system, modernize the economy, and improve public administration.

Particular interest was shown by the French parliamentarian in the development of Kazakhstan’s parliamentary system, including prospects for a transition to a unicameral Parliament. Carteron expressed interest in visiting Kazakhstan to gain a deeper understanding of the reforms being carried out in the country and to further promote interparliamentary dialogue.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation within the framework of the France-Kazakhstan Friendship Group.
