Switzerland-Kazakhstan interparliamentary friendship group visited Kazakhstan

Astana, Almaty, October 11-15, 2025– ­ With the assistance of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bern, a delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Swiss Confederation, which included members of the Switzerland-Kazakhstan interparliamentary friendship group, representing both houses of parliament and various cantons, visited Kazakhstan.

The purpose of the visit was to strengthen direct contacts with members of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, discuss cooperation within international parliamentary forums, and explore opportunities for partnership between the two countries in economic sectors of mutual interest.

During meetings with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the leadership of the Senate and Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and a number of central and local bodies, the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening cooperation was noted. The Head of State emphasized the importance of relations with Switzerland, a reliable partner for our country in Europe.

The Swiss delegation highly valued the reforms being implemented in Kazakhstan and digitalization programs, and expressed readiness in expanding partnerships and implementing joint initiatives.

The negotiations allowed to inform European deputies about the conceptual aspects of the upcoming parliamentary reform, discuss prospects for developing cooperation in the areas of digital technologies, transport, urban planning, energy, green economy, and outline plans for further cooperation between regions of the two countries.
