Mecca, October 14, 2025 – The Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Jeddah Ruslan Kospanov paid a visit to the headquarters of the Muslim World League (MWL), where he held a meeting with Deputy Secretary-General of the League for International Cooperation Muhammad Al-Majdoui. During the discussions, both parties reviewed the current state and prospects of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the MWL in the fields of interreligious and intercultural dialogue.
A representative of the international Muslim organization highly commended the outcomes of the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held in Astana in September of this year. He particularly emphasized the uniqueness of this platform and its significant contribution to advancing the principles of mutual understanding, tolerance, and peace.
He expressed gratitude for the invitation and underscored that the participation of the Secretary-General of the World Islamic League, Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, in the Congress, as well as his meeting with the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev serve as a clear testament to the high level of trust and mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and the MWL.
The interlocutor conveyed gratitude to the leadership of Kazakhstan for the excellent organization and substantive agenda of the Forum, emphasizing that the Congress has become a significant international platform for open dialogue and mutual respect among representatives of diverse religious traditions.
During the meeting, it was noted that the Muslim World League has established a strong working relationship with the Secretariat of the Congress and the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, thereby facilitating the strengthening of practical cooperation. Special emphasis was placed on the significance of the successful visit of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in April of this year, which provided new impetus to the development of parliamentary and spiritual collaboration.
The parties agreed to continue active engagement and further develop bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and the Muslim World League in a spirit of mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Consul General, on behalf of the leadership of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, presented letters of appreciation to several staff members of the Muslim World League for their active participation and significant contributions to the organization and successful execution of the visits of the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Secretary-General of the MWL Sheikh Dr. Muhammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa to Kazakhstan.
