Kigali, October 9, 2025 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Kenya, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UN Office in Nairobi Barlybay Sadykov met with the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Rwanda Gertrude Kazarwa, Minister of Defense Juvenal Marisamunda, Minister of Agriculture Mark Bagabe, Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Clementine Mukeka, Permanent Secretary of Trade and Industry Antoine Marie Kajangwe, Permanent Secretary of Information and Communication Technologies and Innovations Eraste Rurangwa, Chief Executive Officer of the Mining, Oil and Gas Council Alice Uwase, Chief Operating Officer of the National Agricultural Export Development Board Sandrine Urujeni, Chief Executive Officer of the Private Sector Federation of Rwanda Stephen Ruzibiza.
During these meetings, Ambassador Sadykov informed the partners about the political and economic reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan, the strategic objectives outlined in the President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s State of the Nation Address to the People of Kazakhstan “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Solutions through Digital Transformation” and Kazakhstan's international initiatives.
The parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation with the aim of implementing the agreements reached during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame to Astana in May 2025. Particular attention was paid to plans for developing cooperation in such areas as energy, agriculture, information technology and innovation, mining and space industries, and interparliamentary cooperation.
The Rwandan side highly praised the political and economic reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan, as well as Kazakhstan's international initiatives, and confirmed its interest in developing long-term cooperation with Astana. The parties noted the importance of the Agreement on the establishment of the Kazakhstan-Rwanda Business Council, signed on September 26, 2025, aimed at expanding interaction between the business communities and promoting the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between our countries.
Following the meetings, the parties agreed to continue collaborating on issues of mutual interest and to organize expert meetings via videoconference between the relevant agencies of the two countries to discuss in detail joint measures to advance cooperation outlined in the legal documents signed during President P.Kagame's visit to Kazakhstan and to develop a roadmap for their practical implementation.
