Kazakh Culture Presented in South Korea

Gwangju and Seoul, October 4–6, 2025 – The Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic showcased a vibrant concert program, while the brand “Tarbiya” presented a collection of traditional Kazakh clothing during events held in Gwangju and Seoul, with the support of the Asian Cultural Center, the Secretariat of the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, and the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Friendship Association.

The events were attended by Rhee Jong Kook, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum; Kim Sanguk, President of the Asian Cultural Center; Lee Ok Ryun, President of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Friendship Association; as well as Ambassadors from Central Asian countries.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Nurgali Arystanov highlighted the importance of developing cultural ties between Central Asia and Korea, noting that such events contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and friendship between peoples.

The Kazakh diplomat also emphasized the active development of political and parliamentary dialogue, noting that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev intends to participate in the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Summit, which will take place in Seoul in 2026.

In turn, Rhee Jong Kook, Executive Director of the Secretariat of the Central Asia–Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum, noted the active development of exchanges between regions, emphasizing that such initiatives help foster closer understanding of each other’s rich heritage and traditions.

Kim Sanguk, President of the Asian Cultural Center, praised the level of exchange and highlighted the significance of such initiatives in helping Asian peoples get to know each other better and increase awareness.

Members of the Zhambyl Kazakh State Academic Philharmonic masterfully performed Kazakh kyuys and folk songs. The collection of national costumes by the brand “Tarbiya,” which harmoniously combined tradition and modernity, drew special interest from the audience. The fashion show allowed guests to experience Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage and feel its vibrant energy.

Performances by Kazakh artists and the traditional fashion show attracted great interest from the Korean audience and received high praise. The event served as a vivid example of mutual cultural enrichment and made a significant contribution to strengthening humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and Korea.
