San Francisco, September 27, 2025 – For the first time, a traditional Kazakh yurt was set up in the heart of San Francisco. The yurt was showcased at the Second Turkic States Festival with the support of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh-American Association of Silicon Valley represented Kazakhstan alongside participants from six other countries and communities, including Türkiye, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, and the Turkic-Tatar diaspora. Over the course of two days, more than 2,000 visitors attended the event.
The Kazakh yurt, erected by the local Kazakh community, quickly became the festival’s most popular attraction, drawing particular curiosity and admiration from local Americans. Visitors described the interior of the yurt as unique, cozy, and harmonious. Some even shared that the experience inspired them to travel to Kazakhstan and spend time in a yurt on the steppe.
The Consulate General of Kazakhstan in San Francisco emphasized its continued commitment to supporting initiatives that promote Kazakh culture and strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties.
