The President's Address was Discussed at the Meeting of the “Kazakhstan–Mexico” Friendship Group

Mexico City, September 30, 2025 – The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Mexico took part in the official ceremony marking the establishment of the new parliamentary Friendship Group “Kazakhstan-Mexico” within the 66th Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies of the General Congress of Mexico.

The Chairwoman of the Friendship Group, Mexican Deputy Maribel Martinez Ruiz, and the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Mexico, Almurat Turganbekov, delivered welcoming remarks.

The speakers emphasized the steady development of Kazakh-Mexican relations and expressed confidence in the significant potential for further expansion of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade and economic, cultural, educational, tourism, and sports sectors.

Special attention was given to the development of interparliamentary dialogue as one of the key mechanisms for strengthening ties between Kazakhstan and Mexico, capable of giving additional momentum to bilateral engagement.

Ambassador Turganbekov thanked the Mexican side for the initiative to establish the Friendship Group, noting that this step is a clear demonstration of both countries’ commitment to enhancing cooperation.

Kazakh diplomat briefed the Mexican parliamentarians on the key points of the September State of the Nation Address by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, which summarized the outcomes of political reforms based on the concept of “Strong President – Influential Parliament – Accountable Government”. He informed them about plans to transition to a unicameral parliament and to hold a national referendum in 2027.

Highlighting the similarities between the development strategies of Kazakhstan and Mexico, the Kazakh Ambassador spoke about the priorities of the Government of Kazakhstan in the field of digital technologies and the prospects for cooperation in IT and artificial intelligence. He emphasized that over the next three years, Kazakhstan aims to become a digital state by developing a Digital Code and introducing AI across all sectors of the economy and public administration. To implement these objectives, the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been established.

The Mexican side was also presented with information about Kazakhstan’s business and investment potential, as well as a video about the international branding campaign “Kazakhstan: Born Bold”.

At the end of the event, both sides agreed to maintain regular and close contact and to work together to strengthen bilateral cooperation within the framework of interparliamentary engagement.
