Helsinki, September 30, 2025 – The Embassy of Kazakhstan hosted a Briefing by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Finland, Azamat Abdraimov, with members of the Association of Foreign Journalists in Finland. The Association brings together leading representatives of the foreign press working in Finland and serves as an authoritative platform for discussing the international agenda, exchanging information and fostering dialogue between the diplomatic corps and the media community.
During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the main provisions of the State of the Nation Address delivered by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, entitled “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Solutions through Digital Transformation”. He emphasized that the Address defines the strategic direction of the country’s development for the coming years and reflects Kazakhstan’s determination to take a worthy place in the new digital era.
Particular emphasis was placed on Kazakhstan’s prioritization of the development of artificial intelligence and digital technologies as key drivers of economic growth, increased competitiveness and improved quality of life for citizens.
The Kazakh diplomat also provided a detailed account of the large-scale reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan. He highlighted that the reforms of the presidency, parliament and judicial system are aimed at strengthening democracy, the rule of law and the protection of human rights, while economic policy is focused on demonopolization, diversification of the economy and support for small and medium-sized businesses.
The briefing also reflected Kazakhstan’s foreign policy agenda. Special attention was given to President Tokayev’s speech at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly, where Kazakhstan called for deeper international cooperation in the field of digital governance, equitable access to artificial intelligence technologies, as well as strengthening global mechanisms to address climate change, ensure food security and maintain strategic stability.
Journalists expressed great interest in Kazakhstan, asking questions about opportunities for cooperation, prospects for the development of bilateral relations and Kazakhstan’s role as a bridge between Europe and Asia.
The Ambassador stressed that Kazakhstan and Finland maintain regular dialogue at high and highest levels. This year, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, paid a visit to Kazakhstan and at the end of October 2025 an official visit of the President of Finland, Alexander Stubb, to Astana is expected, which will mark an important stage in the development of bilateral cooperation.
