The office of the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan has been opened in North Macedonia
Skopje, September 25, 2025 – The office of the Kazakhstan Honorary сonsul was officially opened in Kumanovo, the second largest city in Northern Macedonia.
The festive event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and North Macedonia.
In his welcoming speech, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Burshakov noted the historical significance of the Kumanovo region, where, according to the historical information, the turkic nomads of the kumanov tribe (Kipchaks) settled from Central Asia in the early 12th century.
The Kazakh diplomat drew the attention of the guests to the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Karaganda and Kumanovo. This important step was preceded by the signing in May of this year of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Akimat of Karaganda and the municipality of Kumanovo, which laid the foundation for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas.
Ambassador Burshakov, expressing gratitude to the leadership of the region for the support and assistance of the Honorary Consul, stressed that bilateral cooperation and the implementation of joint projects will receive a new impetus.
Ambassador noted that the two countries had achieved a number of important joint results – a working visit to Astana in May this year by the President of North Macedonia Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova, to participate in the Astana International Forum and to meet with the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as the June visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski.
In addition, the Ambassador outlined the key points of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's State-of-the-Nation Address, as well as his main message in the statement at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of North Macedonia Zoran Dimitrovski and Chairman of the Council of the Municipality of Kumanovo Ivana Gjorgjievska delivered congratulatory speeches at the solemn event.
Dimitrowski noted the high importance of the opening of the office as an important step in building bridges between the two friendly countries. He noted that the Honorary Consulate will become a catalyst for economic development and prosperity, which will provide a direct link for the business community, facilitate the flow of investments in both directions and improve trade relations.
Newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ejup Abdulahi expressed his gratitude for the high trust shown by the Kazakh side and confirmed his readiness to intensify cooperation between our countries in various fields.
The event was attended by the representatives of the local authorities, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic corps, business communities and the public of North Macedonia.
Kumanovo is the second-largest city in North Macedonia (more than 100 thousand residents), the administrative center of the Kumanovo municipality, founded in 1519. The historical name of the city is associated with the turkic people of the kumans (Kipchaks). The city's multi-ethnic population includes macedonians, albanians, serbs, roma, turks, vlachs, and bosniaks. The leading industrial enterprise of Kumanovo is the steel pipe plant FZC 11 Oktomvri (1953), one of the largest in south-eastern Europe, producing welded pipes for the oil and gas industry and public utilities.
