Berlin, September 18, 2025 – A roundtable titled "Opportunities for Tourism Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany" took place in Berlin.
The event was joined by Norbert Fiebig, President of the German Travel Association (DRV), representatives from the Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry and the Federal Association of Independent Travel Companies, leading German tour operators, Air Astana and SCAT Airlines, as well as the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, regional akimats, and the JSC "Kazakh Tourism" national company.
Participants discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector. The focus was on the prospects for developing tourism from Germany, promoting Kazakhstan's tourism brand in the European market, and the possibility of implementing joint projects in cultural, business, and ecotourism. The parties noted the high potential for further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation.
Kazakhstan Ambassador to Germany Nurlan Onzhanov emphasized that deepening the tourism partnership is important for developing Kazakh-German relations. He noted that tourism not only contributes to economic growth and plays a vital role in building bridges of trust, friendship, and cultural exchange between peoples. "We see Germany as a strategic partner with whom Kazakhstan is ready to open new horizons of cooperation and create unique offerings for tourists," highlighted the Ambassador.
DRV President Norbert Fiebig discussed the informational tour of Kazakhstan, during which the German delegation visited Astana, Almaty, and Baikonur. Norbert Fiebig praised the visit's organization and expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side for its open dialogue. He emphasized that Kazakhstan possesses enormous potential for cultural and active tourism, and the success of existing projects creates a solid foundation for further expansion of cooperation. The DRV President confirmed his willingness to continue supporting initiatives aimed at attracting German tourists to Kazakhstan.
Following the meeting the participants noted the importance of such meetings for deepening mutual understanding and coordinating work in the tourism sector. They also expressed confidence that joint initiatives will make a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations between Kazakhstan and Germany, strengthening the friendship and partnership between the two countries through tourism.
