A Meeting was held in Paris with the Leadership of the World Organisation for Animal Health

Paris, September 11, 2025 – Permanent Delegate of the Republic of Kazakhstan to International Organizations in Paris Askar Abdrakhmanov met with the Secretary General of  the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), Emmanuel Soubeyran.

During the conversation, which the parties noted the positive experience of constructive cooperation between Kazakhstan and the Organization and discussed preparations for the planned events ahead. In this context, Dr. Soubeyran thanked the Kazakh side for its continued supported to the WOAH Sub-Regional Representation for Central Asia in Astana and expressed readiness to further consolidate cooperation, noting the active role of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan in this work.

In his turn, Ambassador Abdrakhmanov informed the interlocutor about the current directions of Kazakhstan’s domestic and foreign policy. The diplomat also focused on the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to establish the International Agency for Biological Safety and stressed the WOAH’s important place in the multilateral cooperation in this area.

Provisions of his recent State of the Nation Address titled “Kazakhstan in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: Current Challenges and Solutions through Digital Transformation” concerning the field of agriculture and animal husbandry were noted. In this context, the continued effective cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and WOAH is particularly relevant for the qualitative development of the agricultural science, the systematic application of international veterinary standards and the implementation of plans to effectively support Kazakhstan’s agribusiness in the field of animal husbandry in order to strengthen the export potential of this industry essential for the country’s socio-economic development.

Established in 1924, the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH, formerly known as the Office Internationale des Epizooties) is an intergovernmental organization with 183 Member States and headquartered in Paris, which focuses on transparently disseminating information on animal diseases, improving animal health globally and this build a safer, healthier and more sustainable world.
