Kazakhstan and Oman Strengthen Cooperation in the Banking Sector

Muscat, September 11, 2025 – Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Sultanate of Oman Aidarbek Tumatov met with Sheikh Khaled Al-Khalili, Chairman of the Islamic Bank of Oman «NizwaBank» and the owner of the Omani Investment Company «Maamoura Wheat Trading LLC».

The parties discussed the most promising areas of investment, trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Oman. In particular, the Omani side expressed interest in the work of the Kazakh banking sector and investment opportunities in other most profitable sectors of the economy of Kazakhstan.

Ambassador Tumatov briefed the Chairman on the current state of Kazakhstan’s banking sector and the key trends in the development of its financial market. He also highlighted several promising sectors of the national economy for attracting foreign direct investment.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain working-level contacts to further explore opportunities for attracting Omani investments into the economy of Kazakhstan.

In May 2025, «Maamoura Wheat Trading LLC» has acquired 100% of the shares of Kazakhstan «Astyk Trans» Joint Stock Company, specializing in railway transportation of grain and other agricultural goods.
