Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Agreed on Steps to Deepen Cooperation in Standardization and Technical Regulation

Tashkent, July 4, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan Beibut Atamkulov met with the Director of the Uzbek Agency for Technical Regulation, Akmal Zhumanazarov.

During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation in the field of standardization and technical regulation. Special attention was given to prospects for deepening collaboration in harmonizing national standards, exchanging experience in quality conformity assessment of products and services, and creating favorable conditions for establishing direct links between relevant enterprises and public organizations of both countries, as well as organizing expert exchanges and professional development programs.

The importance of implementing the Program to increase mutual trade volume to 10 billion US dollars by 2030 was particularly emphasized, with the development of technical regulation systems playing a key role in achieving this goal. Both sides noted that reaching this ambitious target is directly linked to the advancement of effective systems of technical regulation, standardization, and conformity assessment, which contribute to the removal of trade barriers, improvement of product quality, and expansion of business opportunities for both countries.

At the end of the meeting, mutual interest in further expanding cooperation was reaffirmed, and an agreement was reached to continue dialogue aimed at developing coordinated practical measures to strengthen Kazakh-Uzbek partnership.
