Astana, June 2-5, 2025 – With the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Canada, a Canadian business mission consisting of representatives of leading mining companies from Canada visited Kazakhstan. The visit was organized in conjunction with the 15th International Astana Mining & Metallurgy Congress held in Astana.
On June 3, the delegation visited the production facilities of the Kazakhmys Group, where they toured the Nurkazgan mining and processing plant and an underground mine. The Canadian representatives had the opportunity to observe the operational processes and industrial infrastructure firsthand, as well as to exchange views with their Kazakh colleagues on technological development and industrial safety.
As part of the Congress, a dedicated panel session titled “New Technologies, Expertise, and Modern Solutions – All in One: Canada’s Best for Kazakhstan’s Mining Sector” was held on June 4. The session attracted strong interest from Congress participants, including representatives of Kazakhstani mining companies, government institutions, international organizations and industry associations. During the session, successful cases of Canadian technology implementation in the mining sector were presented, and discussions were held on localization opportunities and prospects for joint projects in exploration, processing, digitalization, and safety.
The visit of the Canadian delegation once again confirmed the growing interest of the international business community in Kazakhstan’s rapidly developing market, which offers a favorable investment climate and a strong foundation for technological modernization in the extractive sector.
