Brussels, June 4, 2025 – The third meeting of the Kazakhstan-Belgium Business Council took place in the capital of Belgium. The event was attended by more than 50 representatives of leading Kazakh and Belgian companies. It was organized by the Benelux Chamber of Commerce and the Foreign Trade Chamber of Kazakhstan, with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Kingdom of Belgium, as well as the BECI, AWEX, FIT, and Hub.Brussels chambers of commerce.
Opening the meeting, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Margulan Baimukhan, emphasized that the Business Council, established on the initiative of the leaders of both countries, has become an effective platform for strengthening bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
In turn, the Ambassador of Belgium to Astana, Henri Vantieghem, highlighted Kazakhstan’s strategic role in Central Asia and underscored the importance of the country’s effective foreign economic policy, which facilitates the successful operations of foreign companies.
The meeting primarily focused on broad cooperation between the business communities of Kazakhstan and Belgium-particularly in the areas of logistics, green energy, chemical industry and biotechnology, and higher education.
Participants noted the growing momentum of commercial ties between the two countries and discussed specific cooperation projects.
It is worth noting that, as part of the event, representatives of the Kazakh business delegation – which included companies such as Astana NAN, Artex, Batys Wood Works, and others – held in-depth negotiations with potential Belgian partners.
Belgium is among the major foreign investors in Kazakhstan’s economy. In 2024, Belgian investments in Kazakhstan exceeded 1.2 billion US dollars. Also in 2024 the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belgium amounted to 456.3 million US dollars.
