Kazakh Novel “Omir Bayteregi” Presented to Turkish Readers

Ankara, May 27, 2025 – The official presentation of the Turkish translation of “Omir Bayteregi”, a novel by Saule Doszhan – Honored Cultural Worker of Kazakhstan, laureate of the International “Alash” Literary Award, holder of the “Parasat” Order and winner of the Mecenat.kz literary competition – was held at the Presidential Library of the Republic of Türkiye.

The event was organized by the Turkish History and Culture Foundation (TURKTAV) and supported by the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Türkiye.

The gathering was attended by Turkish intellectuals, leaders of public organizations, representatives of the international organization TÜRKSOY, and members of the diplomatic corps in Ankara. The event served not only as a literary evening, but as a powerful symbol of the strengthening cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Türkiye.

In his speech, the Director of the Presidential Library of Türkiye, Ayhan Tuğlu, emphasized that the concept of the “tree of life” is also widespread in Turkish culture and stems from a shared worldview of the two nations. He expressed confidence that the book would have deep meaning and relevance for Turkish readers.

In her remarks, author shared the backstory of the novel’s creation and sincerely thanked everyone who contributed to its Turkish translation, as well as her readers. She emphasized that by addressing universal human issues, the book helps promote Kazakh literature at an international level.

As part of the ceremony, the Center for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO presented a selection of Kazakh literary classics to the National Library of Türkiye. Among the donated books was “AZ i YA”, the celebrated work marking its 50th anniversary this year, by renowned poet and public figure Olzhas Suleimenov.

The literary evening concluded with the author personally signing and presenting books to her readers.
