Jakarta, May 27, 2025 – The investment and tourism potential of Kazakhstan was showcased in Jakarta, along with the launch of the first issue of Salam Kazakhstan magazine. The event was attended by representatives from Indonesia’s Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Immigration, the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), business communities, travel agencies, and leading media outlets.
In his address, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia, Serzhan Abdykarimov, emphasized the shared aspirations of Kazakhstan and Indonesia for sustainable economic growth, underpinned by abundant natural resources and a dynamic human capital. He noted Kazakhstan’s high investment potential, having attracted over 456 billion US dollars in foreign direct investment over the past three decades – the highest in Central Asia.
The Ambassador expressed confidence in the further strengthening of bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textile industry, and tourism. He highlighted the importance of the upcoming signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between KADIN and Kazakhstan’s Chamber of International Commerce, as well as the establishment of the “Kazakhstan-Indonesia Business Council” as a new platform to promote joint projects.
He also pointed out the positive dynamics in tourist exchanges between the two countries and called for a visa-free regime for Kazakh citizens to further stimulate travel and business contacts. In conclusion, he invited Indonesian guests to discover Kazakhstan – the land of the Great Steppe, tulips, apples, nomadic culture, ancient civilizations, and breathtaking landscapes.
Attendees were shown a video highlighting Kazakhstan’s tourist attractions, cultural heritage, and the global branding campaign “Kazakhstan: Born Bold.”
Special attention was paid to Kazakhstan’s role as a strategic transit and logistics hub linking China, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and the European Union. Participants learned about government support measures for foreign investors, including tax incentives, infrastructure preferences, special economic zones, and the new opportunity of obtaining a 10-year multiple-entry visa.
There was hope expressed that the intergovernmental agreements under discussion – on mutual promotion and protection of investments between Kazakhstan and Indonesia, as well as the creation of a free trade zone between Indonesia and the EAEU – would provide a new impetus to trade and investment flows.
In her response, the Chairperson of the Association of the Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies, Nunung Rusmiati, shared that Kazakhstan had left a lasting impression during her previous visit. “Kazakhstan is not only about stunning nature and culture, but also a country with high service standards, safety, and hospitality. We see great potential for direct tours, cultural exchanges, and joint tourism initiatives,” she said. She noted that tourism could serve as a powerful channel of people-to-people diplomacy and mutual understanding.
The event concluded with remarks from representatives of the Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Indonesian Journalists Association, who commended Kazakhstan’s efforts to deepen economic and humanitarian ties and expressed readiness for further cooperation.
