Tel Aviv, May 26, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Israel, Daulet Yemberdiyev paid an official visit to the National Library of Israel. During the visit he met with the Library’s Director General Oren Weinberg.
The parties discussed prospects for establishing bilateral cooperation between the National Library of Kazakhstan and the National Library of Israel. Special attention was given to joint initiatives such as the digitization of rare archival materials, organization of collaborative exhibitions and cultural exchange events, as well as academic cooperation in the fields of library and archival sciences.
During the meeting, the Kazakh delegation expressed interest in acquiring select volumes of the Talmud and the Torah for display at an international exhibition during the 8th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Astana.
Ambassador Yemberdiyev emphasized that culture and education are fundamental pillars of a successful state. In this context, he highlighted the speech of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the recent ceremony honoring cultural and artistic figures, where the Head of State stated that the development of an advanced nation is closely linked to fostering a reading society – an effort supported by concrete state measures.
In particular, the Ambassador noted the establishment of a special Presidential Award for young writers in Kazakhstan, as well as the introduction of the National Book Day for the first time.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Israel expressed its sincere gratitude to the National Library of Israel for its warm hospitality and openness to partnership, which will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the cultural ties between the two countries.
The National Library of Israel is the primary national library of the State of Israel. Its holdings exceed 8 million books and include the world’s largest collection of Hebrew-language literature and Judaica. The library also preserves many rare and unique manuscripts and historical texts.
