Kazakhstan and Belgium Strengthen Ties in the Field of Development of Green Economy and Logistics

Antwerp, May 22, 2025 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium Margulan Baimukhan paid a working visit to the province of Antwerp, where he held meetings with representatives of leading industrial enterprises in the region – the waste processing company Indaver and the engineering and logistics holding Katoen Natie.

As part of the visit, Ambassador Baimukhan familiarized himself with the operations of the Indaver plant in the city of Doel and held negotiations with its Director Wim Ooms, as well as with the Development Director of Indaver Holding, Jan-Kees de Voogd. The discussions focused on prospects for bilateral cooperation in the field of solid household waste processing and the development of green energy. The Ambassador informed the Belgian side about the state support measures and investment preferences provided by the Government of Kazakhstan for the implementation of projects in the green economy sector. Special attention was given to the introduction of advanced technologies and the transfer of international expertise to Kazakhstan.

Later, a meeting was held with representatives of Katoen Natie – Geert De Roovere, Business Development Director for the petrochemical sector, and Maximilian Lens, Business Development Director. During the negotiations, opportunities for expanding partnerships in the field of transport and logistics infrastructure, essential for supporting the export potential of Kazakhstan’s petrochemical enterprises, were discussed. The company representatives emphasized the promising nature of cooperation.

As a result of the meetings, an agreement was reached to hold targeted negotiations with Kazakh counterparts to work out specific areas of cooperation.
