New Delhi, May 20, 2025 – The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to India Azamat Yeskarayev held a meeting with the Ambassador of Nepal to India Shankar Sharma.
During the constructive discussion, both sides emphasized that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two states. Over the past decade, a high level of mutual understanding and active cooperation has been achieved, including within the framework of the United Nations. In this regard, the Kazakh Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Nepalese side for co-sponsoring the UN General Assembly resolution on the establishment of the Regional Center on Sustainable Development Goals in Almaty.
Special attention during the meeting was given to the issues of trade and economic cooperation, particularly in the areas of transport, logistics, and energy, with an emphasis on the use of international transport corridors and alternative routes. The high potential for increasing bilateral trade was noted, as well as opportunities for organizing mutual exchange of trade missions, and the establishment of a Joint Working Group on trade and investment.
Ambassador Yeskarayev expressed hope for the early signing of the Agreement on mutual visa-free regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports, and also took the initiative to conclude a Memorandum of сooperation in the field of tourism, considering the growing interest of Kazakh citizens in mountaineering and Nepal’s natural attractions.
In addition, the parties noted the prospects for inter-parliamentary cooperation, the development of cultural and tourism exchanges, and steps taken by both sides to simplify visa procedures.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening dialogue and expanding practical cooperation, expressing confidence that the coming years would mark a period of sustainable development and closer ties between the two countries.
